What they said at the time

Which brings us to a central question: Even if Thompson was freelancing, as now seems to be the case, was it clear from the beginning that such behavior would not be tolerated in the travel office and, more broadly, throughout state government?

Contrast these statements with what liberals are saying now.

It is a cynical and hypocritical attempt by liberals to politicize the case and turn it into something that it wasn't.
