Story about the former Blackwater from AP/Las Vegas Review-Journal (link here).

It is a sad comment that politics is more important than performance.

Thanks to Andrew for sending me this link.

Not because it is a weapon, but because it looks like a weapon.

Form over substance.

“There’s a difference between ownership of the content and ownership of the vehicle the content is embodied in.”

- Diane Zimmerman, a professor at the New York University School of Law and a copyright law expert, quoted by the New York Times (link here)

Interesting legal point.

Log Cabin Republicans

"The prominent gay and lesbian conservative organization" is a questionable characterization.

Mismanagement makes conditions worse.

Ann Coulter vs. Dick Blumenthal

Ann Coulter exposes Blumenthal for what he is.

The problem is that he is what many northeastern liberals want.

Today is the anniversary of the tragic fire of 1871.

Dead people need money too

Stimulus money went to dead people.

Most of those dead people probably vote straight Democrat.

Joe Sobran, RIP

Testimonial by Ann Coulter.

I am glad I read it.

Typical Madison pukes.

They want to engage in $86,000 worth of misbehavior, but they do not want to have to pay the fines.

Maureen Dowd

"Holy Roddy McDowall.

Christine O’Donnell doesn’t understand why monkeys can’t turn into people right before her eyes."

- Maureen Dowd, NY Times (link here)

Once again, I do not agree with Maureen Dowd, but I sure do admire her ability to throw some elbows.

Ann Coulter

This week, all we've heard about is how O'Donnell once said she went on a date with a guy in high school who claimed to be a witch. (So what? Bill Clinton married one!)

- Ann Coulter (link here)

Ann Coulter has her moments, and this was one of them.

Maureen Dowd beats up on Newt Gingrich

I almost always disagree with Maureen Dowd, but I admire the way she pulls no punches.

We need more people like that on the political right, people who are willing to throw some elbows and gouge some eyes.

Ionia Sandstone Quarry

About one mile east of Quarry Road along the old rail bed, in heavily wooded terrain, lies the Ionia Variegated Sandstone Quarry. The sandstone, once used widely as a building material has most recently been harvested for landscaping material. The quarry has been closed for many years however, with reflections from the crystal clear springs dancing on the sandstone, this is one of the most beautiful sights to behold in Ionia County.

Michigan zircons

I am particularly interested in the quarries in Central Michigan.

Maybe Obama should endorse oil spills.

It would work as well as what BP and the Obama administration have done so far.

(Thanks to my neighbor Ken for telling me this one.)

Ken: Did you hear that they took Lindsey Vonn's gold medal away from her?

Me: No, that is terrible.

Ken: Yeah, they gave it to Obama because he is going downhill even faster than she was.
