Chinese justice

China has executed a businessman convicted of bilking thousands of investors out of $416 million in a bogus ant-breeding scheme, state media reported Thursday.

What would happen if we did this in the US?

Islamic extremists vs. Obama

This is a devastating assault on India, its democracy, its way of life and its brilliant economy, all of which excite envy and hatred from Islamic extremists.

But it is also a message from Terror Central to US president-elect Barack Obama.

During the US presidential campaign, Joe Biden said that the US's enemies would challenge Obama in the first months of his presidency. Biden's prediction has come true sooner than even he expected.

- Greg Sheridan, The Australian (link here)

Did Obama get the message?

Black Friday

But the worst is "Black Friday"--which, because of the huge bargains and doorbuster items between 4:00 a.m. and noon at a lot of retailers, implies that only Black people want a bargain.

Ann Coulter strikes again

If we're not careful, multitudes of Muslims will be going to fight Americans in Afghanistan just so they can go to Guantanamo and get proper treatment for attention deficit disorder and erectile dysfunction.

Another dead center hit on the target.

And humorous too.

Democrats weak on defense

But it also stirred a debate inside Mr. Obama’s circles, where some advisers worried that the decision to turn to a Republican appointee — something President Bill Clinton did in naming William S. Cohen to the defense post in 1997 — would reinforce the notion that Democrats could not manage the military. “It makes them look like they’re too wimpy to be trusted to run the building,” said one adviser who asked not to be named.

Sounds fair to me

(Thanks to Mark for this one)

As the CFO of a business that employees 140 people, I have resigned myself to the fact that Barrack Obama is our next President, and that our taxes and government fees will increase in a BIG way. To compensate for these increases, I figure that our customers will have to see an increase in our prices of about 8%. However, since we cannot increase prices right now due to the dismal state of our economy, we will have to lay off six of our employees instead. This has really been eating at me, as we believe we are family here and I didn't know how to choose who will have to go. So, this is what I did. I walked through our parking lot and found 6 Obama bumper stickers on our employees' cars and have decided these folks will be the first to be laid off. I can't think of a more fair way to approach this problem. These folks wanted change; I gave it to them.

Ann Coulter

"John McCain is Bob Dole minus the charm, conservatism and youth."

- Ann Coulter (link here)

Excellent quote.

Would make a good t-shirt.

Obama bin Lyin

Did President-elect Barack Hussein Obama commit a federal crime in September of this year? Or did he never actually register and, instead, did friends of his in the Chicago federal records center, which maintains the official copy of his alleged Selective Service registration commit the crime for him?

Disturbing questions.

Obama's Gestapo

Georgia Congressman Paul Broun Wednesday stood by warnings that President-elect Barack Obama might set up a Gestapo-like civilian security force.

Blacks endorse discrimination?

Last week, you see, California voters passed an initiative denying recognition to same-sex marriages. This overturned an earlier ruling from the state Supreme Court legalizing those unions. The vote was hardly a surprise; surely there is nothing in politics easier than to rouse a majority of voters against the ''threat'' of gay people being treated like people.

But African Americans were crucial to the passage of the bill, supporting it by a margin of better than two to one. To anyone familiar with the deep strain of social conservatism that runs through the black electorate, this is not surprising either. It is, however, starkly disappointing. Moreover, it leaves me wondering for the umpteenth time how people who have known so much of oppression can turn around and oppress.

German Jews and liberal Jews

It was a loud disruption to the cocooned view of German Jews that they were cultured and mostly assimilated and, many of them, wealthy, and that their fellow Germans would never harm them. On that night, they finally realized that, in fact, they were not the equals in society they'd believed for centuries that they were. As many of my readers and friends have noted this week, these German Jews have their contemporaries in the liberal Jews who voted for Barack Obama and the party dominated by anti-Semitism and anti-Israel sentiment, the Democrats.

Palin vs. McCain campaign aides

“And that’s cruel and it’s mean-spirited, it’s immature, it’s unprofessional, and those guys are jerks, if they came away with it taking things out of context and then tried to spread something on national news. It is not fair and not right.”

- Gov. Palin, referring to McCain campaign aides, quoted by the NY Times (link here)

I agree with Gov. Palin 100%.

Those aides should be identified and excluded from any future Republican campaign.

The most liberal ever

It’s a very good bet that Barack Obama will be a one-term president if Republicans recover from this awful campaign. The challenges of the war, our economic crisis and the realities of Washington politics won’t permit him to do all he wants to do. When America sees who he really is -- the most liberal candidate ever elected -- we will resist.

- Jed Babbin, Human Events (link here)

A somewhat optimistic view.

Obama's Clinton insiders

In turning to Mr. Emanuel and Mr. Podesta, Mr. Obama sought out two of the hardest-hitting veterans of President Bill Clinton’s administration, known for their deep Washington experience, savvy and no-holds-barred approach to politics. Neither is considered a practitioner of the “new politics” that Mr. Obama promised on the campaign trail to bring Republicans and Democrats together, suggesting that the cool and conciliatory new president is determined to demonstrate toughness from the beginning.

- NY Times (link here)

This might lead cynics to question whether Obama was ever serious about "new politics" in the first place.

Just say "No!"

Even as the nation shattered one barrier of intolerance, we were disappointed that voters in four states chose to reinforce another. Ballot measures were approved in Arkansas, Arizona, Florida and California that discriminate against couples of the same sex.

- NY Times editorial (link here)

Too much democracy for the far-left newspaper.

Al Franken is a loser

Sen. Norm Coleman's narrow lead over DFL challenger Al Franken in the U.S. Senate race narrowed even more, guaranteeing a recount that would be the state's biggest ever and could stretch well into next month.

- Star Tribune (link here)

Franken lost fair and square.

What makes the recount any more accurate than the original count?

And I would never underestimate the ability of the Franken campaign to engage in chicanery during the recount.

First black Supreme Court justice

(Thanks to the person who passed this along to me. That person wishes to remain anonymous, for obvious reasons)

Clarence Thomas was the first black Supreme Court justice.

Thurgood Marshall was a liberal, so he does not count.

We want higher taxes?

The people of Minnesota and the people of Milwaukee County (WI) voted to raise their own sales taxes.

I guess they figured they were not paying enough taxes already.

Drink beer unselfishly

Sometimes when I reflect on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn't drink this beer, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. I think, 'it is better to drink this beer and let their dreams come true, than to be selfish and worry about my liver.

- Babe Ruth, quoted on The Manbottle Library (

Obama bin Lyin

Obama has never run an organization, a business, or a state, yet he wants to run the country. He is not driven by the entrepreneurial spirit that has built America, but rather by a socialist agenda that seeks to make America less free and more reliant on government.

- Bobby Eberle, GOPUSA (link here)

Of course. No surprise here. This is why liberals love Obama.

Vote early

We were at the poll fifteen minutes before it opened at 7am and there was already a long line.

We have lived here and voted for 24 years, and it was the longest line I have waited in so far.

Maybe it was the "sales tax increase" and "leaf burning ban" referendums that caused the heavy turnout.

Humor, or lack thereof

Indeed, the conservatives did rate the traditional golf and marriage jokes as significantly funnier than the liberals did. But they also gave higher ratings to the absurdist “Deep Thoughts.” In fact, they enjoyed all kinds of humor more.

- NY Times (link here)

I am surprised that the s0-called experts are surprised by this.

Anyone with an IQ over 30 knows that liberals are sour-faced grinchy people who always see the glass as half-empty.

Beer and taxes

(My Mom sent me this one)

Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to $100. If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this:
The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing.
The fifth would pay $1.
The sixth would pay $3.
The seventh would pay $7.
The eighth would pay $12.
The ninth would pay $18.
The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59.
So, that's what they decided to do. The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve. 'Since you are all such good customers, he said, 'I'm going to reduce the cost of your daily beer by $20. Drinks for the ten now cost just $80.
The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes so the first four men were unaffected. They would still drink for free. But what about the other six men - the paying customers? How could they divide the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his 'fair share?' They realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if they subtracted that from everybody's share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each end up being paid to drink his beer. So, the bar owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man's bill by roughly the same amount, and he proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay.
And so:
The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% savings).
The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33%savings).
The seventh now paid $5 instead of $7 (28%savings).
The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% savings).
The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 (22% savings).
The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% savings).
Each of the six was better off than before. And the first four continued to drink for free. But once outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their savings.
'I only got a dollar out of the $20', declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man,' but he got $10!'
'Yeah, that's right', exclaimed the fifth man. 'I only saved a dollar, too. It's unfair that he got ten times more than I!'
'That's true!!' shouted the seventh man. 'Why should he get $10 back when I got only two? The wealthy get all the breaks!'
'Wait a minute,' yelled the first four men in unison. 'We didn't get anything at all. The system exploits the poor!'
The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up.
The next night the tenth man didn't show up for drinks, so the nine sat down and had beers without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important. They didn't have enough money between all of them for even half of the bill!
And that, boys and girls, journalists and college professors, is how our tax system works. The people who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show up anymore. In fact, they might start drinking overseas where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier.

Post turtle

(My brother and father sent me this one)

While suturing a cut on the hand of a 75 year old rancher, who's hand was caught in the gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man. Eventually the topic got around to Obama and his bid to be our president.

The old rancher said, 'Well, ya know, Obama is a 'Post Turtle''.
Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him what a 'post turtle' was.
The old rancher said, 'When you're driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that's a 'post turtle'.

The old rancher saw the puzzled look on the doctor's face so he continued to explain. 'You know he didn't get up there by himself, he doesn't belong up there, and he doesn't know what to do while he's up there, and you just wonder what kind of dumb ass put him up there to begin with'.

Liberals on campus

No one disputes that American academia is decidedly more liberal than the rest of the population, or that there is a detectable shift to the left among students during their college years.

- NY Times (link here)

A remarkable understatement.
