A city hanging by chains over an abyss is a richly imagined setting.
The novel features some interesting characters:
Dill (the last archon, dumber than Forrest Gump)
Rachel (assassin)
Devon (poisoner)
Carnival (fallen angel / vampire)
Mr. Nettle (scrounger)
The story includes a large body count.
An abrupt ending sets up a sequel.
