Clinton vs. McCain

If Hillary is elected president, we'll have a four-year disaster, with Republicans ferociously opposing her, followed by Republicans zooming back into power, as we did in 1980 and 1994, and 2000.

If McCain is elected president, we'll have a four-year disaster, with the Republicans in Congress co-opted by "our" president, followed by 30 years of Democratic rule.

There's your choice, America.

Tough choice.

I will probably choose McCain and risk the 30years.

But, I want to be the first person to go on record with a proposed change to the nomination process. Right here, live on Random Thoughts.

The problem both parties have is clear. The Democrats are allowing the Red states to possibly nominate Obama, while the Republicans allowed the Blue States to nominate McCain.

This is wrong. Why does this make any sense? What does it matter what Conn, or NY or CA choose as the Republican candidate since they are going to vote for the Democrat anyway? What does it matter who Idaho or Utah thinks the Democrat candidate should be, since those States are voting Republican in November anyway?

Here is what needs to be done.

Based on the actual Red/Blue state by state distribution in November 2008, for the 2012 Republican primaries/caucuses, the number of state delegates in Red states are doubled, while the number of delegates in Blue states are halved.

For Democrats, the Blue states are doubled, while the Red states are halved.

This way, the states that truly matter will decide who the respective nominees are, and the influence of so-called independents, and cross-over voters will matter far far less.

How long will it take for the political analysts to see this is a far better system?
