"This is a clear abuse of the President's recess appointment power and contrary to the Framers' intent. If the President wants Sam Fox to be the Ambassador to Belgium, he should rescind the recess appointment and send him back to the Senate, so that we can vote on the nomination. We've been working in good faith on the President's nominees and his recess appointment of Sam Fox flies in the face of this bipartisan cooperation."
- Joe Biden
My own comment = This is a bald-faced lie by Biden. Neither Biden nor his cronies have been working in good faith.
"It was appalling when President Bush attempted to repay the financial patron of the 'Swift Boat veterans' with a diplomatic assignment. It is unconscionable that he now seals the deal with a recess appointment after it was clear Sam Fox could not be confirmed... This contemptible end run around the Senate is an affront to the veterans whose honor Fox paid to smear."
- John Edwards
My own comment = Edwards is lying. The Swift Boat Veterans did not smear anyone. They set the record straight.
"It's disappointing that President Bush would defy the will of Congress by appointing Sam Fox Ambassador to Belgium. I opposed Mr. Fox's nomination because I had serious concerns about his candor, judgment, and qualifications for this important post."
- Barack Obama
My own comment = Belgium is more important than we thought? Maybe Obama does not actually know where Belgium is.

Sam Fox is owed the nation's gratitude for helping tell the facts about John Kerry. Because of him and others, we were spared the disaster of a Kerry Presidency.
Why Sam would want to be an ambassador to Belgium makes no sense. But if he wants to, hey why not? I would trust Sam Fox in any capacity much more than Biden, Obama, and Edwards combined.
I was a Swift Boat Vet contributor, and very proud of it.
