Jewish leaders criticized Hillary Clinton even as she won support Monday from the Anti-Defamation League as she continued to deny she made an anti-Semitic slur to her husband's former campaign manager in 1974.
The ADL said in a statement that it believed the first lady when she said she never called Paul Fray, Bill Clinton's campaign manager for his failed bid for Congress, a "f--king Jew bastard" during an argument after the loss 26 years ago.
President Clinton jumped to his wife's defense and told the New York Daily News Sunday, "She might have called him a bastard, I wouldn't rule that out. She's never claimed that she was pure on profanity."
