Is it even possible for a liberal to read that column and consider it might possibly be an accurate indictment of their world view?
Is it even possible that this column could be discussed openly and objectively at any University of Borg class and supported argumentively by a University professor?
Why is this not possible?
Is there really no interest at all by young liberals in any view other than the established liberal collective?
Maybe there is fear of personal rejection, and of being labeled a traitor and betrayer to the liberal cause. Or of being labeled as mean or heartless?
I'm convinced the conservatives need a new branding and marketing campaign. We have it correct on the issues and the facts but half the population and most of the youth is convinced otherwise and will not even consider anything else - and they get daily reinforcement from their collective. Their shields are up.
In trade I will consider again all liberal positions as potentially valid. Of course, I was once a far left liberal so I know these views very well.
But there has to be a way to entice people to try a clean slate thinking appproach, and to give themselves the personal freedom to reexamine their positions.
We need to talk warmly to liberals and try to uncover a way we can rebrand conservatism so its positions will be permitted to be considered by liberals, especially the youthful ones.
It is hard to accept that so many otherwise smart and warm-hearted and well intentioned young people are so absolutley positively emotionally committed to the liberal chorus they learned in high school and reinforced in college. What happened to questioning authority?

It's a great challenge of our time.
It is one of the great challenges of our time.
If there was an easy answer, we would have found it by now.
Young liberals are willing to question some authority, but not liberal university authority.
Young liberals routinely rebel against conservative parents, but we almost never see them rebel against liberal parents.
I cannot figure it out.
Maybe we should ask Al for advice?
