"The United States is the biggest emitter of carbon dioxide, one of several greenhouse gases blamed for melting glaciers and rising sea levels."
- Reuters story
Six senators propose limits on greenhouse gases. The six include McCain, Lieberman, and Obama. Note the political aspirations here. One might be inclined to accuse them of pandering.
Also note that melting glaciers and rising sea levels are part of a natural cycle that has occurred throughout earth's history, including numerous times when there were no significant human activities to affect the cycle (assuming that you believe the current interpretation of the fossil record, which is one of those "science facts" that seems to periodically change based on new evidence and analysis).

I sure hope we have someone other than McCain to support in 2008. The problem is that I would vote for him over any Democrat but I would not give him money or do anything else on his behalf.
Neither would millions of conservatives. So, he is a sure loser I think, and deservedly so.
McCain would be my last choice.
Only better than Hillary, but not by much.
Liberal Republicans are useless.
Not sure what the answer is here.
I am in favor of guys like Duncan Hunter or Tom Tancredo on the issues.
But they have so little name recognition on a national level that it would be a real uphill battle.
Rice is so tied to Bush that she would be better off at the NFL like she said.
Rudy is a super star on the biggest issue - that being the survival of America for those not paying attention - but he is a liberal on most everything else. He is tolerable because issue number one trumps all other issues for the time being, but it is quite a trade-off. He would never appoint a conservative Supreme Court judge for example.
Romney may be our best bet. He has had success beating liberals in Massachusetts, and his past liberal-like statements might be simply that his past. I for one have made many stupid liberal statements in my past.
Tancredo and Hunter could not even win their own states. If we ran them, it would be like Dukaukis or McGovern all over again only against us.
