Eragon (2003) by Christopher Paolini
A very good fantasy novel.
Lots of interesting characters.
Three of my favorite characters are Arya (the elf), Angela (the witch) and Solembum (the werecat).
The naysayers who criticized the novel for being excessively derivative are either speaking from jealousy or are themselves ignorant of the roots of all fantasy literature.
Well worth reading, more than once.
I have not yet read the next book in the series, but I am looking forward to it.
