Feingold alters the calculus in presidential race
Clearest voice against war now lacking
Sen. Russ Feingold's decision not to run for president removes from the potential Democratic field the one candidate who voted against the use of force in Iraq.
"My first raction was definitely real disappointment," said Chris Bowers, who writes formydd.com, a popular progressive blog. Bowers said Democrats interested in Feingold perceived him as filling a "leadership vacuum" on issues where the party had failed to take strong positions.
