Manchurian candidate for Muslims

"It's probably not something that appeals to him, but I like the fact that his name is Barack Hussein Obama, and that his father was a Muslim and that his paternal grandmother is a Muslim," said Kerrey, a former governor and the current president of the New School in New York City. "There's a billion people on the planet that are Muslims, and I think that experience is a big deal."

Kerrey's mention of Obama's middle name and his Muslim roots raised eyebrows because they are also used as part of a smear campaign on the Internet that falsely suggests Obama is a Muslim who wants to bring jihad to the United States.

Smear campaign? What smear campaign?

Did you notice the next sentence in this AP story?

"Obama is a Christian."

That's it. Not allegedly a Christian, not reportedly a Christian, not claims to be a Christian.

A guy could shoot someone with 20 eye witnesses, and the AP would call him a suspected shooter, or accused murderer - but never simply, the shooter or the killer.

You have seen this hundreds of times. It is never absolute with the AP. Never. Except Bush lied. But that's it.

But now, when there is this matter of some reasonable level of inquiry and question of sincerity, along with the fair question of what does it mean to be a "Christian", the AP decides to choose this moment to be unequivocal.

How about that?

The AP has a long history of mixing their own editorial opinions into new stories.

When the AP says that Obama is a Christian, they mean that it is their editorial opinion that people should consider him a Christian.
