Clinton fearmongering

A stark new Hillary Rodham Clinton ad portrays her as the leader voters want on the phone when crisis occurs in the middle of the night, "while your children are safely asleep."

- AP/Forbes (link here)

The Clintons have always excelled at fearmongering.

Fort Benning

Fauxbama

When Barack Obama announced his candidacy for president last year, some observers questioned whether the senator from Illinois was "black enough" to embody the hopes and aspirations of African Americans.

Now a variation on that theme has emerged: Is Fred Armisen, who is not African American, "black enough" to embody Obama on "Saturday Night Live"?

John Lewis abandons the Clintons

After months of personal soul-searching and political pressure, Rep. John Lewis on Wednesday formally announced that he's switching his influential support from Sen. Hillary Clinton to Sen. Barack Obama, whom Lewis now sees as the heir apparent to the racial progress Lewis himself has spent his life fighting for.

- Atlanta Journal-Constitution (link here)

I guess John Lewis did not read Geraldine Ferraro's op-ed piece.

But, it is always good to see the Clintons get stabbed in the back.

ESPN vs. Jesus

Providing further proof that America's elites are delighted when people of low mental ability use Christians and Christianity as punching bags, ESPN has suspended sports-show anchor Dana Jacobson for one week after she indulged in a drunken, foul-mouthed public tirade that included an astonishingly vulgar curse directed at Jesus Christ.

Bill Cunningham vs. Obama & McCain

"Now we have a hack, Chicago-style Daley politician who is picturing himself as change. When he gets done with you, all you're going to have in your pocket is change."

- WLW-AM talk show host Bill Cunningham, referring to Barack Obama (AP/Forbes, link here)

Later, on Cunningham's show, after McCain apologized for Cunningham's remarks (several more than quoted above), Cunningham said:

"Did John McCain repudiate me? ... He just threw me under the bus to the national media. I've had it with McCain. I'm going to endorse Hillary Clinton. I'm going to throw my support behind Hillary Clinton."

This last quote appeared in the print edition of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (with AP attribution), but not in the jsonline version, and not in the AP/Forbes online version.

Dead people for Clinton

The two sons of Ann Richards, the late former Texas governor, are objecting to an Internet video published by Hillary Rodham Clinton's presidential campaign that suggests their mother would have supported Clinton.

Europe vs. Microsoft

The European Union fined Microsoft Corp. a record $1.3 billion Wednesday for the amount it charges rivals for software information.

For the third time since 1996, officials plan to unleash a manmade flood in the Grand Canyon next month in an effort to restore an ecosystem that was altered by a dam constructed on the Colorado River decades ago.

John Kerry

Four years ago, his [John Kerry's] bid to topple President Bush fell short, damaged by a series of Texas broadsides that became known as the Swift boat attacks. His demise spawned a term that came to signify a political low blow.

The far-left continues to misrepresent what Swift Boating means.

Swift Boating is telling the truth about someone when that person is lying, which is exactly what happened in John Kerry's case.

Geraldine Ferraro

Today, with the possibility that Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama will end up with about the same number of delegates after all 50 states have held their primaries and caucuses, the pundits and many others are saying that superdelegates should not decide who the nominee will be. That decision, they say, should rest with the rank-and-file Democrats who went to the polls and voted.

But the superdelegates were created to lead, not to follow. They were, and are, expected to determine what is best for our party and best for the country.

- Geraldine Ferraro, NY Times (link here)

Yet another Democrat opposed to too much democracy.

Or, by seating the Michigan and Florida delegates, and then selecting the nominee in a smoke-filled backroom, the Clinton sleaze factor can be enabled for four more years.

Minnesota moose

In the course of a few years, the number of moose in northwestern Minnesota has plummeted to near extinction.

Scientists say that the moose are dying from "tipover disease," less a diagnosis than a description of how moose simply weaken and crumple to the ground, often to be finished off by wolves or other predators. Minnesota moose seem to be dying when and where they shouldn't -- in the prime of life, or in the fall, when they should be fat, and amid plenty of food. The causes are still largely unknown.

It might be due to parasites they've picked up from an exploding deer population. It might be a complication of heat stress, induced by a climate that's gotten too warm too fast. It might be combination of those and other factors.

Cats are better than dogs?

A new study suggests cat owners are less likely to die of a heart attack or stroke than people who, well, don't own cats.

And no, dogs don't do the same trick.

- Star Tribune (link here)

A fascinating study that raises a lot of questions.

Arcane Democrats

Winning the delegates wasn't enough. Now the Democrats running for president must keep them from straying. The party's arcane system of caucuses and conventions has both campaigns working to keep delegates they had already claimed in Nevada, Iowa, Kansas and elsewhere.

- AP/Forbes (link here)

Arcane does not even begin to describe this system.

The Low Road

At the debate on Thursday night, Senator Clinton, who is 60, passed on a number of opportunities to harshly criticize Senator Obama. She refused to say that he was not ready to serve as the nation’s commander in chief. And she suggested that she does not intend to pursue a ruinous fight for superdelegates at the Democratic convention.

She seemed like someone unwilling to sacrifice her dignity or the interests of her party in an attempt to stave off a likely defeat.

- Bob Herbert, NY Times (link here)

Another delusional op-ed column from the NY Times.

The Clintons have never taken the high road, and they are not going to suddenly start now.

Polar Bears

Nevertheless, environmentalists will continue to directly compare the numbers.

Clever Minnesota smokers

What started as a quirky idea to get around the statewide smoking ban appears to be spreading like wildfire.

Dozens of bars are expected to stage "theater nights'' this weekend in which patrons are dubbed actors. The law, which went into effect in October, permits performers to smoke during a theatrical production.

Booing the Clintons

Hillary Rodham Clinton accused presidential rival Barack Obama of political plagiarism Thursday night, but drew boos from a Democratic debate audience when she ridiculed him as the candidate of "change you can Xerox."

Obama dismissed the charge out of hand, then turned the jeers to applause when he countered, "What we shouldn't be doing is tearing each other down, we should be lifting the country up."

- AP/ajc (link here)

The Clintons have always been about tearing things down, not building things up.

NIU killer & HAMAS

After all, how dare I repeat the words of a Muslim reporter in the Chicago Sun-Times who was friends with Northern Illinois University killer Steven Kazmierczak, and said he was a good guy because he spoke Muslim phrases in Arabic with a phony Arabic accent and liked HAMAS? The nerve of me to report that Muslim former Northern Star reporter Rasmieyh Abdelnabi says Kazmierczak was "nice, smart" because he liked HAMAS.

I mean, I'm sure this is just a coincidence--him liking HAMAS and then rampaging HAMAS-style, murdering multiple innocent people on the NIU campus.

Origins of life

Hydrocarbons in the fluids spewing from a set of hydrothermal vents on the seafloor of the central Atlantic were produced by inorganic chemical reactions within the ocean crust, scientists suggest. The finding holds possibly profound implications for the origins of life.

I never heard of Fischer-Tropsch inorganic chemical reactions before I read this article.

Ancient seismic activity

A 200-kilometer-long, 500-meter-thick layer of rocks now lying high in the mountains of Italy is recognized as the remains of an erosive subduction zone that was active under the sea millions of years ago, scientists say. The Clintons go toxic

The Clinton campaign may need to reach deeper into the negative campaigning armoury if they are to have any chance. They will doubtless be looking at Mr Obama’s remarkably low negative ratings in polls and wondering how they can push them up.

Until now the danger has been that negative attacks could backfire. That is a risk that will probably now have to be taken, even if it damages the Democratic party as a whole. The Clintons have only a matter of days to save their lifelong aspirations. They will not give them up without a fight.

Global warming

Are the world's ice caps melting because of climate change, or are the reports just a lot of scare mongering by the advocates of the global warming theory?

Scare mongering appears to be the case, according to reports from the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) that reveal that almost all the allegedly "lost" ice has come back.

Massive meat-eating dinosaurs

Fossil hunters say they have discovered bones of two massive meat-eating dinosaurs in Africa. In the journal Acta Palaeontologica Polonica, University of Chicago paleontologist Paul Sereno and co-author Stephen Brusatte named one Kryptops palaios, or "old hidden face," because of a horny covering over its face.

It is amazing how many conclusions can be drawn from a few fossilized bones.

Hezbollah mastermind Imad Mughniyeh (also spelled in a variety of transliterated Arabic-to-English ways: Moughnieh, Moughniyeh, Moughnia, Mugniyah, etc.) a/k/a "The Fox," was assassinated in a car-bombing in Syria.

America, what a country. Hezbollah murders our own. Then, their relatives get to live here.

Imad Moughnieh (or however you spell it in transliterated English), ROT IN HELL.

One down, hundreds of milllions of other Hezbo supporters to go.

Religion of Peace

As soon as I learned that 27 people from eight Detroit-area stores were arrested and facing charges for illegal trafficking in food stamps, I just knew they were from the "Religion of Peace." This crime satisfies way too many of the precepts of that moon-god cult to be anything other than perpetrated by one of its members: cash easily transferred to terrorists, ripping off Infidel American taxpayers, laughing at the great American satan at the ease with which they can pull off this scam.

Climate change

Dry-winter forecasts were flat wrong this year for much of Colorado and the Southwest, and weather experts say they're struggling to understand why the snow just keeps falling.

Some forecasters blame climate change, and others point to the simple vicissitudes of weather.

Evolution

Proof of evolution is contained in the fossil record and laboratory tests. It can be seen by careful, meticulous observations. It isn't conjecture, speculation, guesswork or an unproven hypothesis. It is real.

We don't know whether or not you watched the memorial service for Ronald Reagan, but if you did, you probably noticed that Bill and Hillary were both dozing off.

Ajinbayo Akinsiku wants the world to know Jesus Christ - just not the gentle, blue-eyed Christ of old Hollywood movies and many illustrated Bibles.

Akinsiku says his Son of God is "a samurai stranger who's come to town, in silhouette," here to shake things up in a new, much-abridged version of the Bible rooted in manga, the Japanese form of graphic novels.

"We present things in a very brazen way," said Akinsiku, who hopes to become an Anglican priest and who is the author of "The Manga Bible: From Genesis to Revelation." "Christ is a hard guy, seeking revolution and revolt, a tough guy."

Clinton vs. McCain

If Hillary is elected president, we'll have a four-year disaster, with Republicans ferociously opposing her, followed by Republicans zooming back into power, as we did in 1980 and 1994, and 2000.

If McCain is elected president, we'll have a four-year disaster, with the Republicans in Congress co-opted by "our" president, followed by 30 years of Democratic rule.

There's your choice, America.
